Dr. Hammarberg is a pharmaceutical and vaccine generalist for both human and veterinary use, with speciality knowledge in bio-safety, bio-pharma and pharmaceutical production/testing including laboratory and manufacturing facility engineering. He has a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden and a Post.Doc in biochemical engineering from RIKEN in Japan, as well as a Diploma in Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics.

Bjorn Hammarberg has 25 years’ experience in the life science industry both in Europe and Asia. Ten years have been spent in Japan, China and Thailand. His work includes development projects in Mongolia and East Timor. The Mongolia endeavour was a privately driven assessment project for local vaccine and drug development for human and veterinary use. In Dili, East Timor, Dr. Hammarberg undertook a turnkey modular Bio Safety Level -2 (BSL-2) veterinary laboratory ordered by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and used by the East Timor government. He acted as the on-site project and international partner coordinator and managed all aspects of the operation.

Dr, Hammarberg has also led a procurement project, finding, assessing and reviewing mainland Chinese suppliers and then signing agreement with a selected partner to provide an amino-acid based plant fertilizer to a European client. He has extensive experience in bio pharma and pharmaceutical engineering, processing, logistics and supply of facilities, equipment, people and products, working with cross cultural communication in Asia. He has been providing professional training both in academic settings and to the industry in Asia and in Europe. For more than ten years Dr. Hammarberg has been a visiting lecturer at University College London (UCL) in bio-process engineering.
